1. The agreement
Just 5min (“the app”) is developed and operated by Jay Doshi, an individual developer (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing or using the app you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the app — and if you have already installed it, delete it.
These Terms sit alongside two other documents, and all three apply to you:
- Our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app does and does not collect.
- Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), which applies to every app distributed through the App Store. Where these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict on the subject of the licence itself, the Standard EULA governs.
You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, and old enough to hold an Apple Account, to use the app.
2. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use one copy of the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not:
- Copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.
- Remove or obscure any notice of ownership in the app.
- Use the app to build a competing product, or to train a machine-learning model on its content or design.
The app, its name, its icon, its copy and its design remain ours. Nothing here transfers ownership.
3. Free and Plus
The app is free to download. The core five-minute focus timer, session history, streaks and the free themes are available at no cost and are intended to stay that way.
Just 5min Plus is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks the additional features advertised inside the app at the time of purchase — including the full theme set, additional completion sounds, and the deeper analytics and pattern features. The exact contents of Plus may change as the app develops. We will not remove a feature you have already paid for in a way that leaves the purchase materially worthless; where we do change what Plus contains, existing purchasers keep at least equivalent value.
4. Subscriptions, trials and renewal
Just 5min Plus is offered in the following forms. The exact price, currency and trial length for your region are always shown in the App Store purchase sheet before you confirm, and that display is what governs.
- Plus Monthly — an auto-renewing subscription billed every month.
- Plus Annual — an auto-renewing subscription billed every 12 months, offered with a one-week free trial for new subscribers.
- Plus Lifetime — a one-time, non-consumable purchase. It does not renew and is not a subscription.
Auto-renewal, in plain terms. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
If you take the free trial and do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts into a paid annual subscription automatically. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription outright. Apple offers each subscription's free trial once per Apple Account.
5. Payment, cancellation and refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Your entitlement is attached to your Apple Account, which is why Restore Purchases works on a new device without an account with us.
To cancel: open iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Just 5min → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and you keep Plus until that period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are issued by Apple under its own policy, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot grant, refuse or reverse a refund on Apple's behalf — but if something in the app is broken, tell us and we will help you make the case.
6. Pricing and price testing
We run price and paywall tests: two people may be shown different prices for the same tier, and promotional offers may be shown to some users and not others. Assignment is made once on your device and is not based on any personal characteristic — we do not know who you are.
The price you pay is only ever the price Apple shows you in the purchase sheet immediately before you confirm. Prices may change over time and vary by region and by Apple's currency tiers. A price change to an existing auto-renewing subscription is handled by Apple, which will notify you and, where required, ask you to consent before the higher price takes effect.
7. Your data is your responsibility
Just 5min stores your sessions, notes, streaks and settings on your device. There is no account and no server-side copy, which is deliberate — and it has a consequence you should plan around:
If you delete the app, lose the device, or erase the data from Settings → Data & Privacy, that history is gone. We cannot recover it, because we never had it. Keep your iPhone backed up if the history matters to you.
A Plus entitlement is the exception: it lives with your Apple Account and can always be restored.
8. Acceptable use
Use the app for its purpose — running focus sessions and tracking your own work. You agree not to:
- Use the app for anything unlawful, or in breach of anyone else's rights.
- Interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, its purchase verification, or any service it depends on.
- Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the paid tier or any purchase check.
- Use automated means to interact with the app at scale.
9. Not medical or professional advice
Just 5min discusses procrastination, focus, attention and habit formation. Everything it says — in the app, on this website, and in the insights it generates from your own sessions — is general information, not medical, psychological or professional advice.
The app is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, including ADHD, anxiety and depression. Its “patterns” and “focus score” are descriptions of numbers you generated, not clinical findings. If you are struggling with attention, motivation or mood in a way that is affecting your life, please speak to a qualified professional. Do not use this app as a substitute for that.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the app working and to keep it compatible with current versions of iOS, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The app may be updated, changed, or have features added or removed. Features that depend on a third party — the App Store, purchase verification, iOS frameworks such as Screen Time — may change or become unavailable for reasons outside our control.
We may discontinue the app. If we do, previously downloaded copies will keep working for as long as your device and iOS allow, and any active auto-renewing subscription will be handled through Apple.
11. Termination
You may end this agreement at any time by deleting the app — and, separately, by cancelling any subscription through Apple. We may terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms, in particular section 8. Sections 7 and 11 to 15 survive termination.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, that its timers, reminders or notifications will always fire when expected, or that its insights are accurate or useful for you. Do not rely on the app as the only reminder for something that genuinely matters.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, time or opportunity, arising out of or connected to your use of the app — even if we were told such damage was possible.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Third parties
The app relies on Apple (distribution, purchases, iOS frameworks) and on RevenueCat (purchase management and anonymous usage attributes — see the Privacy Policy). Their own terms govern their services, and we are not responsible for them.
Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are, however, third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty may be reported to Apple, which may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app.
15. Governing law and your local rights
Just 5min is sold worldwide through the App Store, and we do not attempt to force every user into one foreign legal system. These Terms are to be interpreted, and any dispute resolved, under the law of the country in which you habitually reside, before the courts competent for that place.
Your statutory consumer rights always come first. Nothing in these Terms removes or reduces a right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live — including, where they apply, EU and UK rights to a conforming digital product and to a statutory withdrawal period, and comparable protections elsewhere. Where a clause of these Terms conflicts with such a right, that clause does not apply to you and the rest of the Terms remain in force.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it is severed and the remainder continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the app changes. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes for the version they take effect in. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, stop using the app and cancel any subscription through Apple.
